Who am I ?

When someone asks us, "Who are you?" our natural response is, "I am a doctor," or "a teacher," or "an investor." Simply put, our professional designation, religion, or family defines us. Tomorrow, if we change our line of work or choose not to work, we will have a different answer to the same question.

Our answer is an innocent response to a question that we haven't thought about or maybe haven't found time for.

Not knowing one's true self is the key reason why we feel low when someone gives us bad feedback (or the other way around, really).

In reality, no one can answer this question for us except ourselves. We have to go within and discover who we really are. But is it really as simple as it sounds?

It is in the nature of the being to miss what is closest to us. It's like air; we don't become aware of its presence. It is like the ocean that surrounds the fish; the fish never becomes aware of it unless thrown out, or like gravity.

The real self is closest to us, so one doesn't need to make a long journey. Sit with closed eyes, be a watcher, and miracles will happen.
