Those rare moments of Listening

Hello my readers!

While attending one of my classes at IIMB, It suddenly dawned upon me how listening is one of those rare moments. Confused?

Let me clarify myself by sharing our normal routine. Say, someone is talking to you and before even that person has completed himself, an internal dialogue has begun. We have already started judging the words of the other person ( Mind it, he hasn't even completed )

We generally 'hear' and rarely 'listen'.

Then I was wondering that probably we 'listen' to music in some relaxed moments when there's no internal dialogue going on and there's just sheer enjoyment. In fact, I have found myself completely peaceful and going deeper within me while listening.

At this point, I would like to tell you I'm interested in spirituality. So, let me share something on that front.
Another interesting aspect of listening I found out while watching the idols of Buddha was the way his ears were crafted. Big ears, falling on the shoulder!

The reason I could figure out was, probably the journey towards the eternal bliss begins from our ears : The listening that happens.
The ears of Buddha I feel are symbolic and showing us the direction... Let's walk?

  1. I think the large ears of the Buddha was because of his age. As we know, the nose and the ears are the only parts of the human body that never stop growing. Buddha died at the ripe old age of 80 by which his ears were pretty huge.

Just Google '80 year old man' for images and you will know what I am talking about.

    1. The Listening is rare.Listening without judgement, inner dialogues builds a connection. One's connection with oneself.
Big ear idols may or may not be for that message but that is not the point. The point is 'Right listening'. But anyway, thanks for mentioning :)
